Since the 70s, Stu Weissman, Abdul-Rahman Qadir, and Reggie Evans have shared enduring personal friendships and numerous musical collaborations. Stu and Abdul were in the Buffalo Jazz Workshop setting the stage for the long time Albright Knox Summer Series while at the same time Stu and Reggie presented 67th Ave, a Jazz Fusion group. As drummers Reggie and Abdul have forged significant rewarding careers performing with various recognized artists. Abdul has worked with nationally renown Dizzy Gillespie, Regina Carter, Dakota Staton, and just about everyone on the Buffalo jazz scene including Al Tinney, Dodo Greene, Janice Mitchell, DeeAnn DiMeo, and a host of others.

Adam Sandler would describe Reggie's list of associations as "not too shabby”. While living in Toronto he performed with acclaimed artists such as Bill King, Liberty Silver, and Salome Bey. The diverse list of local associations includes Kenny Hawkins, DeeAnn Dimeo, Outer Circle Orchestra, Rodney Appleby and a host of others. Reggie has led his own song writing, arranging, and performing projects as well as heading EEGER Music providing audio and visual services to recording artists. He is also actively involved in the music of his church.

So what is this “other side”? Both of these artists have from time to time displayed their vocal talents, but in a limited context, and nearly always from behind a kit. Stu conceived “The Other Side” as an opportunity to have Abdul and Reggie accompany one another on drums while they each take the stage as front man and as percussionists at times. Compositional selections will range from the ballad, to the blues, to the bossa nova.

Three close friends relishing a new musical project. Joining them on bass will be Avery Weissman. Avery has known Abdul and Reggie all his life and began performing alongside them as a young teenager. We welcome you to partake in an evening of engaging music with the closest of friends ’n family.

Thanks for supporting PAUSA art house, our musicians and live music in Buffalo. "Life is better with friends"
